Ingredients:
- All purpose flour - 3 cups
- Baking powder - 3 Teaspoons
- Unsalted butter - 1 cup, softened
- Granulated sugar - 2 cups
- Buttermilk - 2 cups
- Eggs - 4 Nos
- Egg yolks - 2 Nos
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 2½ Teaspoons
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350º F.
- Prepare two 8 inch round baking pans by coating with butter and lightly flouring; Remove the excess flour and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, mix together butter and sugar for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, beat well. Then, add egg yolks in the same way.
- In a bowl, whisk together all purpose flour, baking powder and salt.
- Add half of the mixture into the mixing bowl and beat until combined.
- Then add half of buttermilk and beat until combined.
- Now add the remaining flour mixture, buttermilk, vanilla extract and combine well.
- Divide the cake batter between the baking pans and bake for about 22-25 minutes or the wooden skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on wire-rack for about 8-10 minutes.
