Ingredients:
- All-purpose flour - 2 ½ cup
- Cocoa powder - 3 Tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 ½ cup
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- Baking soda - 1 Teaspoon
- Eggs - 2 Nos
- Buttermilk - 1 cup
- Vegetable Oil - 1 cup
- Butter, at room temperature - ½ cup
- Vanilla extract - 2 Teaspoon
- Lemon Juice - 1 Teaspoon
- Red Food coloring - 2 ½ Tablespoon
- Cream Cheese Frosting or Butter Cream Frosting
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Take three 9" round pan or three 8" round pan or three 8" inch heart shaped cake pans.
- Lightly butter the sides of the pans and place parchment paper on the bottom and set aside.
- In a large bowl, add all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, salt and mix well.
- In another large bowl, whisk together the oil, butter, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, lemon juice, and vanilla.
- Add the dry ingredients mixture into the wet ingredients as batches; After each addition, mix well using a electric mixer on medium speed until just combined and smooth.
- Divide the cake batter evenly into the prepared pans; Bake until a wooden skewer inserted in the center comes out clean (approx. 30- 55 minutes).
- Remove the cake pans from the oven and run a knife around the edges to loosen them from the sides of the pans.
- Remove the cakes from pan, transfer to a cooling rack and allow to cool completely.
Frosting the cake:
- Place one layer in the middle of a cake stand.
- Spread some frosting(approx: ¼ inch thickness) over the top of the cake using a spatula.
- Set another layer on top, then spread some frosting on top of the cake.
- Top with the remaining layer and cover the whole cake with frosting.
