Ingredients:
- Mutton - 500 Gms, cut into small pieces
- Onion, medium sized - 2 Nos, finely sliced
- Tomatoes, medium sized - 4 Nos, sliced
- Ginger - 1 inch piece, chopped
- Green chilly - 3 Nos, chopped
- Yogurt - ½ cup
- Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon
- Red chilly powder - 1 Teaspoon
- Chopped Coriander & Mint leaves - ¾ cup
- Oil - 1 ½ Tablespoon
- Salt to taste
For Kadai masala:
- Coriander seeds - ½ Tablespoon
- Dried red chillies - 2 Nos, adjust according to the spice level
- Black peppercorns - ½ Teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - ½ Teaspoon
- Fennel seeds - ¼ Teaspoon
- Dried fenugreek leaves - ¼ Teaspoon
Instructions:
- Grind together the ingredients mentioned under 'For Kadai Masala' and make a fine/coarse powder.
- Clean and wash the mutton pieces and set aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai. Add mutton and fry till the mutton pieces turns slightly brown in color.
- Lower the flame, add in the turmeric powder, salt and combine well.
- Now add the sliced onions, tomatoes and mix well. Cover and cook on low flame for 40 minutes or till the mutton is cooked well. Stir occasionally.
- Then add in the yogurt, chilly powder, prepared kadai masala(step #1), chopped green chilly, ginger, coriander and mint leaves. Combine well.
- Check for salt. Cook till you get the desired consistency. Remove from flame and serve warm.
