Ingredients:
- Puff pastry - 2 Sheets
- Granulated Sugar - 1 - 1 ½ cup
- Salt - a pinch
- Cinnamon powder - a pinch, optional
Instructions:
Initial Preparation:
- Thaw the puff pastry sheets as described in the puff pastry packet.
- Combine the sugar, cinnamon and salt together in a bowl.
Making Palmiers:
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Sprinkle some sugar mixture on the work surface, and place one of the the puff pastry sheet on it.
- Gently roll it using a rolling pin, and sprinkle some sugar mixture evenly over the pastry sheet.
- First, fold both the sides half way towards the center of the pastry sheet.(refer video or images)
- Fold both sides again towards the center, so they join at the middle of the pastry sheet. (refer video or images)
- Fold one half of the pastry over the other half. (refer video or images)
- Slice the folded pastry sheets into ½ inch thick pieces.
- Dip each pieces into the sugar mixture and arrange them in a baking sheet, by the cut side down position.
- Bake them until golden on bottom, for about 10-12 minutes.
- Take out the baking sheet from oven, and flip the cookies to the other side and bake for another 6 to 7 minutes or until golden spots appear on top.
- Remove from the oven, and cool completely on a wire rack. Continue the process with the other puff-pastry sheet.
Yield: Make about 30 cookies
