Semiya Payasam, Vermacelli Kheer

   Happy Diwali   

Ingredients:
  • Vermicelli ~ semia - 100 Gms
  • Milk - 1 ½ litre
  • Condensed Milk - 2 Tablespoon
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 6-10 Tablespoon
  • Cashew Nuts - 8-10 Nos
  • Raisins - 6-8 Nos
  • Cardamom Powder - ½ Teaspoon
  • Ghee - 2 Tablespoon
Instructions:
  1. Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan, add in the cashew nuts. When it slightly browned, add in the raisins.
  2. Fry till the raisins puffs up, transfer to a bowl and keep it aside.
  3. Then add the vermicelli in the same pan ( add more ghee if required ), roast until golden brown in color.
  4. Now add in 1 liter of milk, water, sugar and mix well. Cook over medium heat till the payasam becomes thick. Stir occasionally.
  5. Then add in the remaining milk, condensed milk, fried nuts, raisins, cardamom powder and mix well. Cook for another 10 minutes or till it becomes medium thick on low heat.
  6. Remove from heat and serve warm.
