Ingredients:
For the batter:
- All purpose flour - ¾ cup
- Cornflour - 3 Tablespoon
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 Teaspoon
- Black pepper powder - ½ Teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 1 Teaspoon
- Water - ¾ cup
- Sugar - ½ Teaspoon
- Salt to taste
For the manchurian:
- Mushrooms - 250 Gms, wash and cut into small cube sized pieces
- Bell pepper / Capsicum - 1 Nos( medium sized), diced
- Onion - ½ of a medium one, diced
- Finely chopped Spring onion whites - 3 Tablespoon
- Finely chopped Ginger - 2 Teaspoon
- Finely chopped Garlic - 2 Teaspoon
- Green chillies- 2-3 Nos, finely chopped
- Finely chopped Spring onion whites- 3 Tablespoon
- Kashmiri chilli powder - ½ Teaspoon
- Black pepper powder - ½ Teaspoon
- Soy sauce - ¾ Tablespoon
- Tomato sauce - 1 Tablespoon
- Hot water - ¼ cup
- Sugar - ½ Teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying + 1 Tablespoon
For garnishing:
- Finely chopped Spring onion greens - 3 Tablespoon
- Finely chopped coriander leaves - 2 Tablespoon
Instructions:
- Mix together all the ingredients mentioned in 'For the batter' and make a thick paste.
- Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
- Dip the mushroom pieces into the batter, place it in the hot oil and deep fry until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan, add the diced onion and saute until translucent.
- Then add spring onion whites and stir for a minute over medium heat.
- Then add the diced bell pepper, chopped green chilli, ginger, garlic and stir for a minute over medium heat.
- Now add the soy sauce, tomato sauce, black pepper, kashmiri chilli powder, sugar and mix well.
- Add in the fried mushrooms and mix well. Add in the hot water and mix well. Check for salt.
- Cook till dry, garnished with chopped spring onion greens and coriander leaves.
- Serve hot.
