Ingredients:
- Fresh or Frozen Green peas - 1 cup
- Paneer or cottage cheese - 200 Gms, cut into cubes
- Garam masala - ½ Teaspoon
- Chopped coriander leaves - 3 Tablespoon
- Vegetable oil - 2-3 Tablespoon
- Butter - 1 Tablespoon
- Water -1 cup
- Salt to taste
For masala paste:
- Onion, medium sized - 2 Nos, thinly sliced
- Ginger - 1 inch piece, finely sliced
- Garlic - 3 cloves, finely sliced
- Green chilies - 2 Nos, sliced
- Tomato, medium sized - 3 Nos, sliced
- Grated coconut - 1 cup
- Turmeric powder - ½ Teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 2 Teaspoon
- Kashmiri chili powder - 1- 1 ½ Tablespoon, adjust
- Cardamom - 1 Nos
- Cloves - 1 Nos
- Cinnamon - 1 inch piece
- Cumin seeds - ½ Teaspoon
Instructions:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan, add in the paneer cubes and fry until slightly golden on low heat. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan, add sliced onion, ginger, garlic, green chilies and saute until the onion becomes translucent on medium heat.
- Add in the kashmiri chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, cumin seeds and saute until the raw smell disappears on low heat.
- Add in the sliced tomato and saute till the tomatoes are mashed well.
- Add in the grated coconut and mix well on low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Once cooled, grind to a fine paste by adding ½ cup of water.
- Add this masala paste into the same pan, and add in the fried paneer, green peas, ½ cup water, salt. Mix well and cook for 6-10 minutes on very low heat. Add more water, if needed.
- Once the gravy is thick, add in the garam masala, chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
- Remove from heat, keep it covered for 5 minutes. Serve hot.
