Ingredients:
- Prawns - 500 Gms, cleaned and deveined
- Onion - 1 Nos, finely chopped
- Green chillies - 2 Nos, sliced
- Chopped Capsicum - ½ cup
- Thick coconut milk - 1 cup
- Coconut oil - 2 Tablespoon
- Water as required
- Salt to taste
For Tamarind water:
- Tamarind - 5 Gms
- Warm water - ¼ cup
For Coconut Masala:
- Grated coconut - ½ cup
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Turmeric powder - ½ Teaspoon
- Coriander powder - ½ Tablespoon
- Cumin seeds - ½ Teaspoon
- Pepper corns - 10-12 Nos
Instructions:
- Soak tamarind in ¼ cup of warm water for 15 minutes. Then squeeze to extract the pulp. Drain to remove the solid parts and set aside.
- Grind together the ingredients listed in 'For coconut masala' with little water and make a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onion and saute till the onions are translucent.
- Then add in the cleaned prawns and stir fry for 5-6 minutes on medium heat.
- Add the prepared coconut masala into the pan and mix well.
- Add in the tamarind juice, sliced green chillies, chopped capsicum, coconut milk, enough water, salt and mix well. Cook till the prawns are cooked well and the gravy is thick over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.
