Fruit Custard, Fruit Salad with Custard
Ingredients:
  • Chopped Mixed Fruits - 2 - 2 ½ cup(refer notes)
  • Cashew nuts - ¼ cup, chopped
  • Milk - 2 ½ cup
  • Sugar - 4-6 Tablespoon
  • Vanilla essence - ½ Teaspoon

For Custard Syrup:

  • Warm Milk - ¼ cup
  • Vanilla flavored custard powder - 2 Tablespoon
Instructions:
  1. In a bowl, add in the warm milk and custard powder. Mix well and make a smooth paste without any lumps.
  2. Heat 2 ½ cups of milk in a sauce pan. Add sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Now LOWER THE HEAT and add in the custard mixture. STIR CONTINUOUSLY until semi-thick or for about 5-7 mins on VERY LOW HEAT.
  4. Remove from heat. Add vanilla essence and mix well. When it comes to room temperature, refrigerate it for 2 hours.
  5. Just before serving, chop all the fruits and nuts into small pieces. Add the chopped fruits and nuts into a bowl and mix well.
  6. Scoop the chopped fruits into the serving bowls. Pour the custard syrup on top.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes:

  • I used 1 apple, 1 small banana, 2 kiwi fruits, 15-20 grapes and ¾ cup chopped mangoes. Try to avoid citrus fruits and melons.
  • For a thicker custard, cook for few more minutes. And keep in mind that, as the custard cools, it will become more thick.
