Ingredients:
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Unsalted Butter, melted - 1 Tablespoon
- Salt - ¼ Teaspoon
- Lukewarm water - 3 - 4 Tablespoon, adjust
- Oil to deep fry
For Yeast Mixture:
- Active Dry Yeast - ½ Tablespoon
- Sugar - 2 Tablespoon
- Lukewarm water - ½ cup
For Butter Cream:
- Unsalted Butter - 75 Gms, at room temperature
- Powdered Sugar - ¾ cup
- Vanilla Extract - ½ Teaspoon
- Cold Milk- ½ Tablespoon
Instructions:
Dough Preparation:
- Mix together the ingredients mentioned in 'For Yeast Mixture' and set aside until the yeast blooms.
- In a large bowl, add all-purpose flour, melted butter, salt, yeast mixture and combine well.
- Add lukewarm water, 1 tablespoon at a time and knead well.
- Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 6-10 minutes.
- Shape dough into a ball shape. Dough should be softer than chappathi dough. Apply little oil on the dough.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a towel and let the dough rise at room temperature until doubled, about 1-2 hours.
- Then slightly knead the dough, and divide into 8 equal sized portions.
- Make each portion to ball shape and set aside for 10-20 minutes.
Frying Buns:
- Heat enough oil to deep fry the buns in a heavy bottomed pan.
- Place the balls in hot oil as batches and fry till golden on both sides on low heat.
- Transfer to the kitchen paper towel, set aside and allow to cool completely.
Butter cream Preparation & assembly:
- In a bowl whisk butter until creamy.
- Add in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, milk and combine well.
- Take a cooled bun, slit it open and spread 2-3 tablespoons of butter cream and cover the bun. Continue the same with rest of the buns.
