Deviled Tuna, a Srilankan delicacy
Ingredients:
  • Tuna fish - 300 Gms, cut into small cubes
  • Onion, small sized - 1 Nos, sliced or cubed
  • Red Bell Pepper, small sized - 1 Nos, sliced or cubed
  • Yellow Bell pepper, small sized - 1 Nos, sliced or cubed
  • Garlic - 3 medium cloves, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 small piece, finely chopped
  • Green chillies - 2-3 Nos, sliced
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 Tablespoon + enough oil to fry the fish pieces
  • Black pepper powder - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

For the sauce:

  • Tomato ketchup - 3 Tablespoon
  • Sweet chili sauce - 1 Tablespoon
  • White Vinegar - 1-2 Tablespoon, adjust

For Marination:

  • Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt to taste (approx: 1 Teaspoon)
Instructions:

Initial Preparation:

  1. Clean and wash the fish pieces. Drain the water completely.
  2. In a bowl, add in the cleaned fish and the items mentioned in 'For marination'. Mix well and set aside for 20 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the ingredients listed in 'For the sauce' and set aside.

Deviled Tuna Preparation:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, fry the marinated fish pieces until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel and set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan, add in the chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies and saute for 20-30 seconds in low heat.
  3. Add in the sliced onion and saute until the onions are slightly soft.
  4. Then add in the sliced bell peppers and saute for about 30 seconds in high heat.
  5. Now add in the prepared sauce and combine well in low heat.
  6. Add the fried fish pieces, pepper powder and salt into the pan. Mix well and fry for 1-2 minutes on low heat.
  7. Remove from heat and keep it covered for 10 minutes.
  8. Serve warm with rice.
