Ingredients:
- All purpose flour - 1 ¾ cups
- Unsalted butter, softened - ¾ cup, or 1 ½ stick
- Granulated Sugar - 1 cup
- Baking powder - 1 ½ teaspoons
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 ½ teaspoons
- Eggs - 1 Nos, large
- Egg yolk - 1 Nos
- Milk - ¾ cup
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Butter two 8 inch cake pans, then slightly dust with flour or arrange parchment paper in the bottom.
- In a bowl, add in the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, add in the butter, sugar and beat until creamy for about 5 minutes.
- Add in the egg, egg yolk, vanilla essence and beat for 1 minute.
- Add in the flour mixture and milk alternately into this and beat at low speed till smooth and fluffy.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pans and bake until golden brown or a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, for about 22 to 30 minutes. Check after first 20 minutes, to prevent burning. Baking time may vary according to the oven model.
- Cool cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
