1. How to Make Dosa Batter?
Ingredients
- Parboiled rice/Idly rice – 3 cups
- Whole White Urad dal – 1 cup
- Soda powder / Soda bicarbonate – one pinch
- Salt as required
Preparation Method
- 1. Wash urad dal and idly rice separately.
- 2. Soak it separately for 6-8 hours.
- 3. Grind urad dal in a mixie/grinder till its puffed up, add little water when needed.
- 4. Transfer it to a vessel and set aside.
- 5. Then grind the idly rice till it becomes smooth.
- 6. Then add the grinded urad dal into it and grind for 3-4 minutes.
- 7. Transfer the batter to a big vessel, make sure that half of the vessel should be empty, it helps proper fermentation.
- 8. Leave it for 6-8 hours or overnight.
- 9. Add salt and Soda powder before 10 minutes when you start and mix well.
- 9. Your Dosa batter is ready 🙂
Tip : The consistency of the batter should be medium , neither be thick nor so smooth.
