   Happy Diwali   

Ingredients:
  • Boneless white fish fillet - 500 Gms, cut into medium sized cubes
  • Green Chillies - 8-10 Nos, deseed and cut in to fine strips
  • Onion - 1 Nos, cubed
  • Dried Red Chillies - 8 Nos, cut into 2 pieces
  • Garlic - 5 cloves, finely Chopped
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece, finely chopped
  • Green Bell Pepper / Capsicum - 1 Nos, deseed and cubed
  • Dark Soy Sauce - 1 Tablespoon
  • Red chilli sauce - 2 Teaspoon
  • Tomato sauce - 2 Tablespoon
  • Sugar - ½ Teaspoon
  • Spring Onion - 2 Nos, chopped
  • Corn starch or Corn flour - 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt as required
  • Water as required, ½ cup approx.
  • Oil to fry the fish pieces

For marination:

  • White Pepper powder - ½ Tablespoon
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 Tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, crushed
  • Lime juice - 2 Tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 Teaspoon

For the batter:

  • Corn Flour - ½ cup
  • All-purpose flour - 1 tablespoon
  • Egg - 1 Nos
  • Salt - ⅛ Teaspoon
Instructions:

Initial Preparation:

  1. Clean and wash the fish pieces thoroughly and drain the water and set aside.
  2. Marinate the fish pieces with the items mentioned under 'For marination' and set aside for 15 minutes.

Frying Fish pieces:

  1. Heat enough oil to deep fry the fish pieces in a heavy bottomed deep pan on medium heat.
  2. Prepare the batter by mixing the ingredients mentioned under 'For the batter'.
  3. Dip the marinated fish pieces into the batter, then place them into the hot oil as batches. Do not overcrowd.
  4. Fry until golden brown. Drain and set aside.

Chilli Fish Preparation:

  1. In a bowl, add in 1 tablespoon of corn starch/flour, ¼ cup of water, mix well and set aside.
  2. Heat 1-2 tablespoon of oil in a pan, add in the cubed onion and fry till it becomes soft.
  3. Add in the chopped ginger, garlic and fry for 1 minute on low-medium heat.
  4. Then add the striped green chilies, dried red chilli pieces and fry for 30 seconds.
  5. Add in the diced capsicum and saute for 2 minutes.
  6. Now add in the soy sauce, red chilly sauce, tomato sauce, sugar and ¼ cup of water. Mix well and bring to a boil on low heat.
  7. Now add in the fried fish pieces, mix well and cook on low heat.
  8. Add in the corn starch mix(Step #1), mix well and cook until the sauce thickens and coats the fish. Adjust salt.
  9. When the mix thickens, sprinkle the chopped spring onions and mix well.
  10. Remove from heat and serve hot with Fried rice or Parathas.
